Mosquito devices that are used to stop young people under the age of 25 years old ‘hanging around’ have been banned on Kirklees buildings as a result of Kirklees Youth Councillors campaign!
After 18 months of campaigning – getting young people and adults to sign petitions to ban these devices, attending Full Council meetings and Cabinet meetings, Youth Councillors persuaded Senior Colleagues with the Council to stop using these devices.
The Youth Council will continue watching the European rules on using mosquito devices to see what will happen in the private sector.
This project ended in September 2010.
