Update 26.09.12
What have I been doing?
- I was selected to join a Police Crime Commissioner advisory group
- Won a Diana Award for the work I’ve been involved with for the College Network group
- I have been involved with the Huddersfield-The Place to Make it Campaign
- Attend the Paralympics with other KYCs
- Helped create the logo for the brand new project, Our Voice
- Helping prepare for the elections in October and the arrival of new KYCs
- Created links with the chairs of Children in Care Council
- Worked on the Positive Images for Young People project
What have I learnt?
- How to work effectively on a national project while still influencing my local area
- How to work with a range of different aged people and having an impact on their thoughts
- How dedicated and inspirational people are
- How little things can change how others view something
What I hope to do next
- Continue to be involved with as many KYC elements as possible
- Distribute the PCC charter
- Help with the transfer of the current KYCs to the newly elected ones
- Help the new chairs begin their role

What have I been doing?
- I was voted joint Chair of the Youth Council which I am really enjoying
- I took part in the KYC European Exchange
- Attended the British Youth Council’s Holocaust Memorial Event which taught me a lot
- I was selected to join a BYC debate about female politicians on the set of the film ‘The Iron Lady’
- I contributed to the Young People’s event ‘Buns and Banter’ sharing my views on several topics
- Helped with the KYC annual report magazine
What have I learnt?
- How to voice my opinions effectively
- How to represent the views of other young people
- Lots of skills like being more independent and public speaking
- How to have a positive impact
What I hope to do next
- Work with the rest of the Youth Council on our next project which will have a definite result!
