Cameron wants to make sure that parks in Kirklees are clean and tidy – just like the playground at Ravenshall School! What’s your local park/playground like? Send us your comments and we’ll help you campaign for cleaner play areas!
We have worked on the YOUth 4′EM training pack today. We talked about the activities for young people with disabilities in Kirklees. We looked at some of the drama clubs, sports activities and the youth clubs on offer.
We noticed there doesn’t seem to be much for young people in the valleys. We also think that activities are quite expensive. When we ask young people how much they think activities cost they say “about £2″.
An idea for cheaper and improved activities include music clubs-music lessons are too expensive, if we teach each other it would be cheaper.

We have been asking young people in our school what is important to them.
Kyle: I think young people with disabilities should have more things to do – especially accessible activities for young people who use wheelchairs.
Matthew: I think young people need job opportunities. Things seem to be improving for young people with disabilities. I go to “Wacky” (youth provision for young people with disabilities) in the summer. You can do a Duke of Edinburgh Award there if you’re old enough.
Cameron: I like doing events and activities that raise awareness about young people’s disabilities. If people know more about disabilities, they understand them better.
